Darryn Capes-DavisCommunity, Radio

I am very proud to be a finalist in the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s (CBBA) Volunteer of the Year award. I was one of eight finalists with nominations being from my peers.

Included below if a short piece of one of the nominations I received.

“Darryn Capes-Davis is an outstanding member of the community and station volunteer contributing considerable hours every day at Alive 90.5 FM as importantly he keeps us on the airways as Technical Manager and in my 13 years at the station he is by far the best technical manager we have ever had. He promptly responds to all technical issues, virtually on-call 24/7 and has solved problems for on air presenters during broadcasts, constantly upgrading our broadcasting equipment, enhancing our playout software, rewritten our technical manuals and guidelines so they are clearer and easier for non-technical members to follow and has improved our broadcast sound quality. As our web site manager he has dramatically improved our online presence to look more modern and professional and included online internet radio to the world besides our FM broadcast. He has improved the web site with community events diaries and community news and online ecommerce solutions for membership joining, renewals as well as education seminar enrolments online. Even our stations office computers and security systems have been improved and updated by him. He has recruited and trained other technical volunteers to create a tech-team that we have never had before. As a Program Committee Chairperson, he contributes to the overall sound of the station, recruits, trains and supports new presenters, and supports existing presenters when and were ever they need help. As a radio show presenter/producer he ensures his show engages community leaders and community service volunteers to are making a valuable contribution to the community. He is also actively involved in every community outside broadcast and events that engage our community and listeners. As A Board Member and now Deputy Chairperson he has been very proactive in reviewing our policies and procedures, our overall governance, and our stable financial viability. His voluntary contribution to the station has been outstanding.”
