Heat map

The featured image of this post is my Strava Heat map, 2008 til 2016. You will see my work commute as a path well ridden. I make the occasional trip north to Brooklyn and beyond, and down south-west along the great M7 cycleway.

Distances

As of the time of this post, I have ridden a total of over 46,000km, averaging over 5,000km each year. My longest distance ridden in a year was over 8,000km in 2009, when I was very active leading rides for Bike North. I have ridden over 31,000km on my Trek SOHO flat bar commute bike and over 14,700km on my Cervelo S1 road bike.

Maintenance

As an engineer I enjoy and take pride in maintaining both my bikes. I use Strava to keep track of my ‘gear’. For example, I know that I get an average of 5,000km per chain on my commute bike, which can get a lot of harsh wear when I ride in the rain.
